6 notes on this verseBut God declares that his name shall no more be thus named by any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt; that is, there shall be no Jews remaining to use this dialect of their country, or, if there be, they shall have forgotten it and shall learn to swear, as the Egyptians do, by the life of Pharaoh, not of Jehovah.
This site's exposition
This is the word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews living in the land of Egypt
on Jeremiah 44:1-6
The word goes to the Jews in Egypt, from Migdol, Tahpanhes, and Memphis in the north to Pathros in the south. “You have seen all the disaster that I brought against Jerusalem.” The cause was incense burned to “other gods that neither they nor you nor your fathers ever knew.”

No man dwelleth therein - The desolation of the land of Judea must have been exceedingly great when this, in almost any sense, could be spoken of it.
