on Exodus 40:9-11
The oil of 30:22 to 33 changes the status of the tent, its furnishings, the altar and the basin. The altar of burnt offering is called most holy, the one anointed piece standing in the open courtyard where the people came.

I doubt not but that it acquired this name from the sacrifices, which are also so called on account of the expiation made by them, as we have seen elsewhere. The children of Israel, therefore, were instructed that God is truly reconciled by holocausts and burnt-offerings, since "the holiness of holinesses" resided on the altar itself.

In this, and the two following verses Exo 40:10, orders are given for the anointing of the tabernacle and its vessels, the altar of burnt offering and its vessels, the laver and its foot, whereby they were consecrated for divine use and service, according to Exo 30:26.
