on Exodus 16:10-11
The glory appears in the cloud that has gone before them since 13:21, so the pillar they have followed for a month turns out to have something inside it. They are told to look toward the wilderness, which is the direction of the emptiness they had just complained about. The same glory settles on Sinai at 24:16 and fills the tabernacle at 40:34, and in every case it arrives in a cloud.

While Aaron was speaking, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud. The cloud itself, one would think, was enough both to strike an awe upon them and to give encouragement to them; yet, in a few days, it had grown so familiar to them that it made no impression upon them, unless it shone with an unusual brightness.

Appeared in the cloud - Or, “was seen in a cloud.” The definite article would imply that the cloud was the same which is often mentioned in connection with the tabernacle. The people saw the cloud here spoken of beyond the camp.
