Eglah David's wife--This addition has led many to think that Eglah was another name for Michal, the first and proper wife, who, though she had no family after her insolent ridicule of David (2Sa 6:23), might have had a child before.

on 2 Samuel 3:2-5
Six sons are born to David in the seven and a half years at Hebron: Amnon, Chileab, Absalom, Adonijah, Shephatiah and Ithream. Absalom's mother is Maacah, “daughter of King Talmai of Geshur”. Three of the names carry the book's later grief, and Adonijah will claim the throne and die.

Only Eglah is called David’s wife in the list. Jamieson, Fausset and Brown and Matthew Henry report the view that Eglah was another name for Michal, his first wife. Michal bore no child after 6:23, and the view holds she might have borne one before.
