There be more with us than with him - We have more power than they have. (These words he quotes from the prophet Elisha, 2Ki 6:16). This was soon proved to be true by the slaughter made by the angel of the Lord in the Assyrian camp.

The charge opens with “Be strong and courageous”, words spoken earlier to Joshua and to Asa. Adam Clarke hears Elisha’s word of 2 Kings 6:16 in “there is a greater One with us than with him”. Then “the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah”.
