The list of treasuries, storehouses, stalls and pens is material Kings never gives, and Chronicles catalogs the wealth Hezekiah will show the envoys of Babylon. Verse 29 credits the increase: “for God gave him very great wealth”. The book applies the same teaching to every king who seeks the LORD.

The storehouses held the grain, new wine and oil the people had tithed in 31:5, now gathered for the crown as well. A king facing Assyria needed food laid up in his towns. John Gill places these stores in the cities of verse 29.

And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah. The formidable design of Sennacherib against Hezekiah's kingdom, and the vigorous attempt he made upon it. This Sennacherib was now, as Nebuchadnezzar was afterwards, the terror and scourge and great oppressor of that part of the world.
