Verse 23 is Chronicles’ own addition: “from then on he was exalted in the eyes of all nations”. Kings closes the episode with Sennacherib’s death. Chronicles adds the nations’ response, the same recognition that follows Jehoshaphat’s deliverance in chapter 20.

Many brought offerings to Jerusalem

The gifts reverse the payment of 2 Kings 18:14, when Hezekiah stripped the temple to buy off Sennacherib. Now treasure flows into Jerusalem, and the offerings for the LORD are named before the gifts for the king. The honor also set up the pride of verse 25.

Many brought gifts unto the Lord - They plainly saw that Jehovah was the protector of the land. And presents to Hezekiah - They saw that God was his friend, and would undertake for him; and they did not wish to have such a man for their enemy.
