Gideon dies "at a ripe old age", the phrase Genesis 15:15 and 25:8 use of Abraham, and lies in his father's tomb at Ophrah. The turn comes "as soon as Gideon was dead", the descent of 2:19, and Israel takes up Baal-berith, lord of the covenant.
