on Joshua 7:22-23
The messengers run, the one quick movement in a chapter that proceeds by assembly and lot. The tent matches the confession, the goods hidden and the silver underneath. The goods are laid out before the LORD, so the silver and gold reach the treasury they were devoted to at 6:19.

The goods are shown to Joshua and the whole assembly before sentence is carried out. Henry gives the reason, that everyone could see how plain the evidence was and fear to take devoted things themselves. He notes how small the stolen goods were.
