Dwell deep - Retire into the depths of the desert. See on Jer 49:8 (note). Inhabitants of Hazor - I cannot find this place. It was no doubt in Arabia, and a place of considerable importance; but it is now no more.

Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor

on Jeremiah 49:28-33

Kedar traces to Ishmael's sons (Genesis 25:13), and this Hazor is unrelated to the walled Canaanite city Joshua destroyed, an unfortified region of Arab tent-encampments described by its very lack of defense, which have neither gates nor bars, which dwell alone. Their wealth is measured in tents, curtains, flocks and camels rather than fortification, goods easily carried off rather than a city that must be besieged. Verse 33 sentences Hazor to become a dwelling for dragons and a perpetual desolation, the identical formula the book later applies to Babylon's own ruin.
