the descendants of Parosh, 2,172
on Ezra 2:3-35
Verses 3 to 35 name family after family. Adam Clarke notes the pattern: a person's name marks descendants, and a place name marks its former inhabitants. John Gill sets the list beside the parallel roll in Nehemiah 7 and finds the two agree in substance while differing in some numbers.
This site's exposition
the descendants of Magbish, 156
Magbish appears only in Ezra's roll. Nehemiah 7:33 and 7:34 pass from the other Nebo straight to the other Elam, leaving out this entry and its 156. Every other entry of verses 3 to 35 has its counterpart in Nehemiah.
