the descendants of Parosh, 2,172

on Ezra 2:3-35

Verses 3 to 35 name family after family. Adam Clarke notes the pattern: a person's name marks descendants, and a place name marks its former inhabitants. John Gill sets the list beside the parallel roll in Nehemiah 7 and finds the two agree in substance while differing in some numbers.

This site's exposition

the descendants of Jorah, 112

Nehemiah 7:24 gives the same count, 112, under the name Hariph. In both rolls the entry comes straight after Bezai, so Ezra's Jorah and Nehemiah's Hariph hold one place with one figure.
