This is the third division in three chapters, after 8:22 and 9:4, and here it is drawn on the map. The hail falls on all Egypt and none of it in Goshen.

The only place where it did not hail
Goshen, where the Israelites lived, is the one place in Egypt the hail did not touch. Jamieson, Fausset & Brown, on verse 18, note that no trace of the storm was found in Goshen, which added to the wonder.

Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail. So that such Egyptians as might dwell among them, they, their servants, their cattle, and their fruits, escaped this plague; and oftentimes do wicked men fare the better for the people of God that are among them.
