Pharaoh's own officials divide here, since some act on the word of the LORD and shelter their servants and animals. Others leave theirs standing in the field, and the narrator records the split without comment.

Those among Pharaoh's officials who feared the word sheltered their servants and livestock, and those who disregarded it left them in the field. Belief in the word of the LORD now decides who lives among the Egyptians themselves.
