The charge is the blood of My servants the prophets, shed by the hand of Jezebel. Ahab's house is the third dynasty condemned in the formula spoken against the houses of Jeroboam and Baasha. At Jezreel the dogs will devour Jezebel.

Jezebel is named apart from the rest of Ahab's house, marked for the dogs and denied a grave. Matthew Henry weighed the whole royal line against the blood of the prophets and found it too little to pay for that blood. The young prophet runs as Elisha ordered.
