on 1 Chronicles 17:7-10

The promise to plant His people in a place of their own follows, matching 2 Sam 7:8-11. Where 2 Sam 7:11 promises David rest from all his enemies, Chronicles has “I will subdue all your enemies”. Verse 10 turns David's plan around: “the LORD will build a house for you”.

The LORD promises to subdue all of David's enemies. He then turns David's plan around, for the LORD will build a house for David, a line of kings. Adam Clarke sends the reader to 2 Samuel 7, where the same promise stands.
