on 1 Chronicles 17:4-6

One word differs at verse 6. Where the Hebrew of 2 Sam 7:7 has the tribes of Israel, the Hebrew here has the judges of Israel. Older commentators read the change as a scribal shift between two similar Hebrew words or as a narrowing to the period's rulers.

The LORD asks whether He ever told any shepherd of Israel to build Him a house of cedar. The cedar house recalls David's palace in verse 1. Adam Clarke's note on verse 5 lists the places the tent stood in all those years of travel, from Gilgal to Gibeon.
