on 1 Chronicles 17:7-10

The promise to plant His people in a place of their own follows, matching 2 Sam 7:8-11. Where 2 Sam 7:11 promises David rest from all his enemies, Chronicles has “I will subdue all your enemies”. Verse 10 turns David's plan around: “the LORD will build a house for you”.

The LORD reviews David's past: He has been with David on every road and has cut off his enemies. The promise then turns to the future, a great name in the land. Adam Clarke sends the reader to 2 Samuel 7 for the same promise.
