Chronicles opens the scene without the notice in 2 Sam 7:1 that the LORD had given David rest from all his enemies around him. It moves straight from David's “house of cedar” to the ark “under a tent”, keeping the chapter's attention on the sanctuary.

Nathan the prophet gives David a quick yes. He tells the king to do what is in his heart, for God is with him. Adam Clarke sends the reader to 2 Samuel 7, where the same answer stands in the parallel account.
