on 1 Chronicles 17:4-6

One word differs at verse 6. Where the Hebrew of 2 Sam 7:7 has the tribes of Israel, the Hebrew here has the judges of Israel. Older commentators read the change as a scribal shift between two similar Hebrew words or as a narrowing to the period's rulers.

From the Exodus onward the LORD dwelt in a tent that moved. Adam Clarke gives the Targum and Jarchi, who trace the tent's moves from Gilgal to Nob, from Nob to Shiloh, and from Shiloh to Gibeon. Gibeon is where 16:39 places the tabernacle in David's own day.
