For the labor of a very hard journey, I gave you abundance of all things. Indeed, Carmel, which is called Chermel in Hebrew, signifies this, and in our language it means the knowledge of circumcision.

The charge is a question, “What fault did your fathers find in Me”. Israel never asked where the LORD was, and in the fertile land it defiled His land. Every office failed together, as the priests did not ask, the leaders rebelled and “The prophets prophesied by Baal”.

The Hebrew for fertile land is a land of the carmel, the word for a garden orchard. It stands against the desert of verse 6. Israel ate its fruit and then defiled the land the LORD calls His inheritance.
