on Genesis 30:34-36
Laban agrees at once, and Wesley reads the speed as a man who thinks the deal favours him. That day Laban removes every streaked, speckled and spotted animal and every dark-colored lamb, and puts them under the care of his sons. Three days of travel are set between the flocks.

The distance keeps marked animals from breeding with the flock Jacob tends. John Wesley explains Laban's hope: a flock of one colour would bear few or no mixed young, and Jacob would work for next to nothing. Jacob is left with the rest.
