Counterpoint: Josephus, writing decades later, is the real evidence here. The Masada ostracon is partly reconstructed â€” the name is restored as "H[anani]ah the high priest" â€” and it names a son, Aqavia, whom no ancient source connects to this high priest, so linking it to the Ananias of Acts 23 is an inference rather than a reading.
