The two cherubim of olive wood stand ten cubits high, with wings of five cubits each. The tabernacle’s cherubim were a small pair of gold worked into the mercy seat at Exodus 25:18-20. These stand free, carved of wood, overlaid with gold, and built to the room’s scale.

Ten cubits of height repeats verse 23, and John Gill reads the repetition as a mark of their unusual size. Adam Clarke puts it at about eighteen feet three inches. Each cherub stood half as tall as the room.
