on Leviticus 8:4-5

Moses runs the ceremony and produces his warrant before he begins, telling the assembly this is the thing which the LORD commanded to be done. He installs an office he will never hold, and it passes to his brother's line rather than to his own sons. Hebrews 5:4 reaches back to this scene when it says no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.

Because it was a solemn transaction between God and Israel; the priests were to be ordained for men in things pertaining to God, for the maintaining of a settled correspondence, and the negotiating of all affairs between the people and God; and therefore it was fit that both sides should appear, to own the appointment, at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
