Blood goes on the right earlobe, the thumb of the right hand and the big toe of the right foot. Leviticus 14:14 marks a cleansed leper at the same three places.

Moses kills the second ram himself and puts its blood on Aaron first, and his sons follow at verse 24. Adam Clarke refers the reader to his note on Exodus 29:20 for the meaning of the rite.

After the sin offering and burnt offering had been presented on their behalf, this was their peace offering, by which they declared the pleasure which they felt in entering upon the service of God and being brought into close communion with Him as the ministers of His sanctuary, together with their confident reliance on His grace to help them in all their sacred duties.

Calmet remarks that the consecration of the high priest among the Romans bore a considerable resemblance to the consecration of the Jewish high priest. “The Roman priest, clothed with a garment of silk, his head covered with a crown of gold adorned with sacred ribbons, was conducted into a subterranean place, over which there was a floor of planks pierced through with many holes.
