6 notes on this verseJoshua's death is also recounted for us. But it is nothing unusual that he who was the "son of Nun" died, for everything that is owed to nature gets paid. Yet, because we have established that what is read here about the son of Nun must be seen as referring to our Lord Jesus Christ, we need to ask how is it befitting to say that "Jesus died." It is my opinion, though speaking according to the authority of Scripture, that Jesus lives in certain persons and is dead in other persons.

on Judges 2:8-9
Joshua dies "at the age of 110", the age Genesis 50:26 gives for Joseph and for no other man in Scripture. Both men are buried in the same country, and Joshua 24:32 records Joseph's bones going into the ground at Shechem. The title "the servant of the LORD" is one the book of Joshua gave only to Moses until its last chapter.

The servant of the Lord - This is a title especially given to Moses Deu 34:5; Jos 1:1. In later books, the phrase “the servant of God” is used 1Ch 6:49; Neh 10:29; Dan 9:11; Rev 15:3. It is applied to Joshua only here and in Jos 24:29. It is spoken of David (Ps. 18, title), and generally of the prophets; and, like the analogous phrase, “man of God,” is transferred by Paul to the ministers of Christ under the New Testament 2Ti 2:24; Jas 1:1.
