on Genesis 50:22-23
Joseph lives to a hundred and ten and sees Ephraim's sons to the third generation. Machir's sons are brought up on Joseph's knees, the sign of a child received into the family. Ephraim's line is counted first here, as Jacob set him first, and Numbers 32:40 gives Machir's clan Gilead.
