Their unfaithfulness to Nebuchadnezzar was a type of their general unfaithfulness to their covenant God. with the hand--namely, of the king of Babylon.

The reason the omen lands on Jerusalem rather than Rabbath is stated without ambiguity, because your iniquity is to be remembered. The verse insists the captivity is the exposure of guilt already plain. Henry reads the phrase come to remembrance as the moment a settled account is finally called due.
