Three names stand behind the order Hezekiah restores. The verse says “the command had come from the LORD through His prophets”, putting the temple music on the footing of the written pattern. Clarke notes that Moses commanded no instruments for the tabernacle.

The Levites play the instruments David made for praise, and the priests blow the trumpets the LORD ordered Moses to make at Numbers 10:2. Gill draws both links. Numbers 10:10 appoints the trumpets to be sounded over burnt offerings on days of gladness, the use they are put to here.
