A second census follows for “the remaining descendants of Levi”. Albert Barnes counts twenty-five family heads here against the twenty-four priestly courses, and the text leaves the difference unexplained. Verse 31 restates the method, since these houses also “cast lots in the presence of King David”.

Isshiah, Micah's brother, is the second son of Uzziel, and his son Zechariah follows him. The pair match the list at 1 Chronicles 23:20. Matthew Henry notes these records put worship back in its old channel after the exile.
