on 1 Chronicles 24:14-19
The roster runs to its twenty-fourth lot, Maaziah. Verse 19 closes it with a claim, that the order follows Aaron's regulations, “as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded him”. A few of these course names return in Ezra's list of priests who came back from exile.

Jachin draws the twenty-first lot and Gamul the twenty-second. Jamieson, Fausset & Brown, on verse 5, say the lot settled the right to perform each duty and left no cause for jealousy between houses.
