A second census follows for “the remaining descendants of Levi”. Albert Barnes counts twenty-five family heads here against the twenty-four priestly courses, and the text leaves the difference unexplained. Verse 31 restates the method, since these houses also “cast lots in the presence of King David”.

The first was Isshiah
Isshiah is first among Rehabiah's sons. Rehabiah was the son of Eliezer and grandson of Moses, as 1 Chronicles 23:15 to 17 records. Matthew Henry says these lists guided the Levites' service after the return from captivity.
