The first lot fell to Jehoiarib
on 1 Chronicles 24:7-13
The lot gives “the eighth to Abijah”, and Luke 1:5 names Zechariah as a priest of the division of Abijah. Zechariah was serving his division's turn in the temple when Gabriel met him, so this roster dates the opening scene of the New Testament.

Malchijah draws the fifth lot and Mijamin the sixth. Jamieson, Fausset & Brown, on verse 5, say the lot was used to remove all jealousy over precedence among the priestly houses.
