Leviticus 7:21

in Leviticus 7

If one touches anything unclean, whether human uncleanness, an unclean animal, or any unclean, detestable thing, and then eats any of the meat of the peace offering that belongs to the LORD, that person must be cut off from his people.”

BSB

The same verse in ASV and KJV

ASV

And when any one shall touch any unclean thing, the uncleanness of man, or an unclean beast, or any unclean abomination, and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace-offerings, which pertain unto Jehovah, that soul shall be cut off from his people.

KJV

Moreover the soul that shall touch any unclean thing, as the uncleanness of man, or any unclean beast, or any abominable unclean thing, and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which pertain unto the Lord, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.

be a vow, or a voluntary offering

on Leviticus 7:16-22

A vow or a voluntary peace offering may be eaten on a second day and a thanksgiving offering may not, and the text draws that line without saying why. On the third day the remainder is burnt, and eating it makes the sacrifice an abomination that shall not be accepted nor imputed to the man who brought it, so an offering already made can be spoiled by what is done with the meat afterwards. A man who eats the flesh while his uncleanness is upon him is cut off from his people, and the chapter says it twice in two verses.

Holy things are only for holy persons; the holiness of the food being ceremonial, those were incapacitated to partake of it who lay under any ceremonial uncleanness; but we are hereby taught to preserve ourselves pure from all the pollutions of sin, that we may have the benefit and comfort of Christ's sacrifice, 1 Pet. ii.
