on Leviticus 7:23-27
Fat and blood are forbidden together under one penalty, to be cut off from his people. The fat of an animal found dead or mauled may be used for any other purpose, so the rule guards what belongs on the altar.

You must not eat the blood of any bird or animal
The ban on blood covers birds as well as animals and holds in every dwelling, away from the altar. John Gill extends it to every creature, clean or unclean, bird or beast. The rule first appears at Genesis 9:4 and is set at Leviticus 3:17 as a permanent statute.
