Ezra charges the priests and Levites in the same terms as the articles: "You are holy to the LORD, and these articles are holy." Men set apart carry things set apart, and one charge covers both: guard them until they are weighed out in the chambers of the house.

John Gill reads the chambers as the storerooms and treasuries of the temple, where the gifts were to be laid up. Three bodies would witness the weighing. Gill says the carriers were to deliver the full weight they received, before the leading priests, the Levites and the family heads.
