in Ezra 8On the fourth day, in the house of our God, we weighed out the silver and gold and sacred articles into the hand of Meremoth son of Uriah, the priest. Eleazar son of Phinehas was with him, along with the Levites Jozabad son of Jeshua and Noadiah son of Binnui.

The returned exiles offered burnt offerings, and Ezra delivered the royal commission to the satraps and inferior magistrates; while the Levitical portion of them lent all the assistance they could in performing the additional work which the arrival of so many new worshippers occasioned.

The company reaches Jerusalem and rests three days, the same span it had spent at Ahava over the missing Levites. On the fourth day the silver, gold and sacred articles are weighed into the hand of Meremoth son of Uriah, the priest. This closes the charge given at verse 29.

Meremoth son of Uriah receives the treasure as the priest. Eleazar son of Phinehas carries the name of the priestly house that heads the roll at verse 2. Two Levites stand with them, so priest and Levite together receive what priest and Levite had carried.
