Eleven lay houses follow, each with its own count, beginning with Eliehoenai of Pahath-Moab and 200 men. Pahath-Moab, Adin and Elam also stand in Ezra 2 and Nehemiah 7, where the numerals differ. The difference is traced to copyists or to two stages of one register, with no verdict given.

Elam had sent 1,254 men with the first return, by the count of Ezra 2:7. Jeshaiah now brings 70 more. The same house returns in Ezra 10, where Shecaniah proposes the covenant at verse 2 and six men of Elam are named at verse 26.
