Eleven lay houses follow, each with its own count, beginning with Eliehoenai of Pahath-Moab and 200 men. Pahath-Moab, Adin and Elam also stand in Ezra 2 and Nehemiah 7, where the numerals differ. The difference is traced to copyists or to two stages of one register, with no verdict given.

Azgad had sent 1,222 men with the first return, by Ezra 2:12, one of seven lay entries in that register above a thousand. Johanan son of Hakkatan now brings 110. That is about one man for every eleven who came before.
