The priests receive the innermost strip, with “the sanctuary of the LORD” at its center. It is for “the descendants of Zadok, who kept My charge and did not go astray as the Levites did when the Israelites went astray”. The wording repeats the standard chapter 44 already set.

John Gill reads most holy as meaning the land could not be turned to other use or passed to others. The same term marks the altar and the priests' share of the offerings (Exodus 29:37; Leviticus 6:17). The ground itself now carries that rank.
