The chapter ends in permanence stacked clause on clause: “My servant David will be their prince forever”, and the sanctuary “among them forever”. “My dwelling place will be with them” carries the vocabulary that John's Gospel and the Revelation take up for God dwelling among His people.

The covenant of peace was first promised in Ezekiel 34:25. Matthew Henry reads the everlasting covenant as the covenant of grace, which secures an everlasting happiness. John Wesley takes the sanctuary as a spiritual temple begun on earth and completed in heaven, and chapters 40 to 48 describe a sanctuary.
