who is God besides the LORD
on 2 Samuel 22:32-34
“For who is God besides the LORD?” turns the song from thanks to confession, a question that answers itself against the gods of the nations. God makes David’s feet “like those of a deer” and stations him “upon the heights”, sure footing on rock.

John Gill's King James text renders the line as God being strength and power, who makes the way perfect. Psalm 18:32 phrases it with God arming David with strength. The perfect way God makes for David answers the perfect way of God in verse 31.
