The longest chapter in Scripture: twenty-two stanzas of eight, one for every Hebrew letter, nearly every verse naming the word of God, law, testimonies, precepts, statutes, commandments, ordinances, word, promise. 'Wherewith shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word. Thy word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.' 'Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and light unto my path.' 'Before I was afflicted I went astray.' 'The opening of thy words giveth light.' 'Great peace have they that love thy law.' The psalm ends as a lost sheep seeking the Shepherd by his word.
