on 2 Samuel 22:2-3
David stacks his titles for God: rock, fortress, deliverer, shield and “the horn of my salvation”. The horn goes back to Hannah’s prayer at 1 Samuel 2:1 and 2:10, where the LORD will exalt the horn of His anointed. Luke 1:69 takes up the horn of salvation.

John Gill reads this verse with Psalm 18:2, and the two share the run of titles. The closing words about violence belong to the Samuel copy alone. Matthew Henry takes every title as God's own work, since whatever gives David strength has it from the God of his rock.
