over the Gate of Ephraim
Gill takes the Gate of the Guard as the gate of the prison court, near the courtyard of the guard by the king's upper palace. The Gate of Ephraim is where the people built booths at 8:16. The choir halted at the palace court.

It also contained the temple which was hallowed by the manifestation of His presence, and anew set apart to His service.
