The register opens with "the priests and Levites who went up with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and with Jeshua." Twenty-two priestly names stand against the twenty-four courses David ordered, a gap the commentators trace to courses that never returned from Babylon.

Gill takes Mijamin and Maadiah as the Miniamin and Moadiah of 12:17, the spellings of the next generation's list. Mijamin held the sixth of David's lots at 1 Chronicles 24:9. Bilgah follows them in both lists.
