The register opens with "the priests and Levites who went up with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and with Jeshua." Twenty-two priestly names stand against the twenty-four courses David ordered, a gap the commentators trace to courses that never returned from Babylon.

Gill reads Rehum as Harim with its letters transposed, the name this house carries at 12:15 and at 10:5. He takes Meremoth as the Meraioth of 12:15. One house could carry two spellings.
