Also the first-born - See this law, and the reasons of it, Exo 13:1-13. As by this law the Lord had a right to all the firstborn, instead of these he was pleased to take the tribe of Levi for the whole; and thus the Levites served at the tabernacle and temple, instead of the first-born of all the tribes.

on Nehemiah 10:35-36

The fifth and sixth ordinances bring "the firstfruits of our land and of every fruit tree" yearly to the house of the LORD (10:35). They bring "the firstborn of our sons and our livestock". Gill records that later teaching narrowed the fruit-tree offering to the seven kinds of Deuteronomy 8:8.

The written law on the firstborn stands at Numbers 18:15-18: every firstborn son was redeemed for five shekels of silver. The firstborn of ox, sheep and goat went on the altar with its meat given to the priests. Both payments fed the priesthood.
