the leaders of the people
on Nehemiah 10:14-27
The lay heads of families close the roll, the family names that head the register of the first return in Ezra 2 and Nehemiah 7. The generation that came up under Zerubbabel and the generation that seals the covenant under Nehemiah are the same houses, the old remnant still standing.
This site's exposition
Hariph, Anathoth, Nebai
Hariph counts 112 at 7:24, and Ezra 2:18 gives the same number under the name Jorah. Anathoth is a town, whose men numbered 128 at the first return in 7:27. A town's name stands here among the family seals.
